Notice regarding late payments

We recognize the burden that circumstances related to processing and distributing child support payments have placed on families. Please know that DCSS staff have been working diligently to resolve all child support payment processing errors. Everything has been done with the families who rely on these payments in mind.

There were two separate payment processing issues that were created by errors of our vendors Tyler Technologies and JP Morgan Chase Bank, and the following payment mechanisms were affected:

  • Kentucky Child Support Interactive (KCSI) website payments

  • Electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments, including wage payments and payments received from other states

Both issues occurred on July 3 and affected payments made from June 30 through July 2.

Today, all missing EFT payments were processed. Please be aware that the payment received date will reflect July 16 rather than the date the payment was originally made.

Attempting to manipulate data to reflect the original dates presented too much risk to the goal of getting funds out.

Notice regarding late payments continued...

DCSS continues to work on the KCSI payment file that was affected. We hope that work will be completed over the weekend. If it is, those payments will be able to be distributed on Monday.

While the errors and oversights which led to this situation were not created by DCSS, we know this has caused hardship for many. Once all payments have been processed and distributed, DCSS will conduct a thorough debrief to understand what happened and identify the changes needed to ensure that our future responses are faster, more efficient, and better coordinated.

We will learn from this experience and improve our processes, communication, and response times so that we can better serve families that rely upon on services.

Thank you.
